What We Treat

Our external ant treatment is effective against most common outdoor ant species found in South East Queensland, including:

  • Black house ants

  • Coastal brown ants

  • Meat ants

  • Sugar ants

  • Funnel ants

  • And other common yard-invading species

How It Works

Our technicians apply professional-grade ant treatment throughout your outdoor areas, targeting:

  • Lawns and turf areas – Treating visible ant nests and activity trails

  • Garden beds and landscaping – Eliminating colonies in garden areas

  • Paved areas and pathways – Treating cracks and joints where ants nest

  • Outdoor structures – Addressing ant activity around sheds, fences, and retaining walls

  • Entry points – Creating a barrier to prevent ants from entering your home

The treatment works to eliminate existing colonies and provides ongoing protection against reinfestation.

Service Duration: Approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour (varies with property size)

Preparing for Your Treatment

To ensure the best results and safety, please complete the following:

48 Hours Before Treatment

  • Mow your lawn – Grass should be cut within 48 hours before treatment to allow better product penetration and improved coverage of ant nests

On Treatment Day

  • Remove pets from outdoor areas – Keep all pets indoors during treatment

  • Bring pet food and water inside – Remove all pet bowls, food, and water dishes from yards and outdoor areas

  • Clear the area – If possible, remove toys and outdoor items from treatment areas

  • Identify problem areas – Point out any specific ant nests or high-activity areas to your technician

After Your Treatment

To maintain the effectiveness of your ant treatment and ensure safety:

  • Keep pets inside for at least 1 hour – Allow treatment to dry before pets return to outdoor areas

  • Avoid watering for 24 hours – Do not water lawns or gardens for at least 24 hours after treatment to allow the product to work effectively

  • Leave ant nests undisturbed – You may notice increased ant activity initially as colonies react to treatment—this is normal

  • Allow time to work – Full colony elimination can take several days as ants carry treatment back to their nests

You should notice a significant reduction in ant activity within 3-5 days of treatment, with complete control achieved within 1-2 weeks.

Warranty

6-Month Warranty – Your external ant treatment is backed by a 6-month warranty. If ant activity returns to treated areas within this period, simply contact us and we'll return to re-treat at no additional charge.

We can provide specialized fire ant treatment and will work with you to address any fire ant infestation.

Why External Ant Treatment Matters

Ants are social insects that live in large colonies, often numbering in the thousands. While DIY products may kill visible ants, they rarely eliminate the entire colony. Professional treatment targets the source, providing long-lasting results and preventing ants from becoming an ongoing problem both outside and inside your home.

South East Queensland's climate is ideal for ant activity year-round, making professional management essential for many properties.

Why Choose State Pest Management?

With over 30 years of experience in South East Queensland, we understand local ant species, nesting behavior, and effective treatment methods. Our friendly technicians use professional-grade products that deliver results while being mindful of your pets, family, and environment.
